U.S. police departments from across the country are trying to raise awareness against using gun-shaped iPhone cases. The reasoning behind these warnings is that, due to the gun shape of the case, wearing your iPhone in your back pocket will make you look like you're actually carrying a firearm. While this may seem cool at first, it looks like police officers might have a tough time figuring out if you're pulling out an iPhone to take a selfie or drawing a weapon.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office in Tom's River, New Jersey, recently posted this on Facebook:
Other police departments, such as the New York City Police Department's 112 Precinct chipped in with a similar message on the Twitter:
Up until today, gun-shaped iPhone cases could be ordered from Amazon for about $5. Fortunately, Amazon has since decided to remove this type of cases from its listings in response to multiple user comments suggesting the removal.
What do you guys think of gun-shaped iPhone cases, are they cool or lethally dangerous?
