Announced a few weeks back as the world's first rugged smartphone to feature a wide-angle action camera, the Kyocera DuraForce PRO is now ready to be released by AT&T. Starting August 31 (this Wednesday), the second largest US mobile carrier will allow customers to order the handset online, planning to launch it in stores on September 9.The Kyocera DuraForce PRO will cost $13.97 per month for 30 months on AT&T Next, or $17.46 per month for 24 months on AT&T Next Every Year (eligible service required). Off contract, the device will likely be priced at around $420.Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the DuraForce PRO is dust- and water-resistant (IP68 certified), while also meeting Military Standard 810G, which means it can survive drops from up to 5 feet (1.5 meters). The phone's wide-angle action camera is located on the rear, next to a regular 13 MP camera, and will let you take photos and shoot video in various conditions, including under water.
Powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, the Kyocera DuraForce PRO sports a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, further featuring LTE, a 5 MP front-facing camera, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 3240 mAh battery (supporting wireless charging). The handset also comes with a dedicated side button for EPTT (Enhanced Push-To-Talk), as well as a fingerprint scanner that's also situated on the side.Besides coming to AT&T, the Kyocera DuraForce PRO should be released by T-Mobile, too, though it's not clear exactly when that's supposed to happen.
